Tavia Gilbert is the daughter of a stained-glass artist and the granddaughter of an oil painter, and she has had a life-long passion for photography. While in recovery from a serious injury in 2009, she began to shoot images as a meditative healing practice. The natural beauty of spring cherry blossoms, the mystery of backyard snails, the texture of the Maine coastline — these subjects offered solace, peace, and grounding, as well as therapeutic connection to the natural world. As her career as an actor and writer in New York has grown, she has simultaneously developed a unique aesthetic sensibility and a devoted following for her visual art.
